Smooth-Hound Shark (Mustelus mustelus) are observed to have two distinct variations in their appearance – the Starry Smooth-Hound has lots of tiny white dots along its back whereas the Common Smooth-Hound is grey all over. They are thought to be the same species.

These sharks have powerful muscles in their jaws to allow them to crunch through hard-backed prey such as hermit crabs and squat lobsters.
